Medicare Annual Enrollment Period

The Medicare fall Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is underway. It runs every year from October 15 to December 7. Individuals who qualify for Medicare health plans can enroll in a new plan. Or can make changes to their coverage during this time. It’s wise to start reviewing plan options early with a Licensed Insurance Agent through the Medicare Support Center at CVS.

We know understanding health care plans can be confusing. And requires some time to sit and review coverages that meet your needs. Many individuals know they need to be doing something during AEP but aren’t sure what. Individuals may wonder if they should make a coverage change or do nothing. And possibly run the risk of having the wrong plan. So many choices can cause anxiety. That’s not what we want for you.

You can have confidence working with agents from the Medicare Support Center at CVS. They’re trained to assist you with all your Medicare plan needs. To get started, we’ve outlined what you need to know. During a one-on-one phone call, agents will review plans and help you select what’s right for you.

What you need to know

During AEP, you have these options:

  • If you have Original Medicare, you can switch to a Medicare Advantage plan — or vice versa.
  • You can switch from a Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage to one without — or vice versa.
  • You can join or drop a Medicare prescription drug plan.
  • You can update your coverage by switching to a new plan from your current carrier or switching to a new carrier.

If you choose to make a change during AEP, your new coverage begins January 1.

It’s important to note, if you’re happy with your current coverage, you don’t have to do anything. In most cases, your current Medicare plan automatically renews January 1.
